USING BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE TO IMPROVE VIRTUAL REALITY
“Jessica is the first person to take behavioral & cultural issues of the virtual world head-on as a scientist.”
The Extended Mind’s work is useful today and will be an incredibly valuable resource as the XR market grows.
Social VR is incomplete without understanding The Extended Mind’s research.
Jessica brings a unique perspective to the field of immersive technologies. Rather than helping to feed the hype cycle, Jessica gently asks us to step back and delve into the fundamental human motivations that drive everyday activities, the need for connection, and ways in which people try to make sense of their world. I have been challenged by Jessica’s research and writings to evaluate my own designs through a more rigorous lens, one that includes voices that aren’t always heard. Through her writings on social VR, immersive tech for architecture and design, and critical studies of what it means to create a safe online space, Jessica provides unique and valuable insights. I look forward to my continued collaborations with Jessica.
